• Chargehand Linesmen/Linesworkers required
  • £320 to £330 per day
  • 3 gangs required for locations in Somerset, Essex and Milton Keynes
  • National Grid authorisations preferred but not essential
  • The client will consider applications from overseas workers requiring a visa with the relevant transmission experience

To be considered for the Chargehand Linesman  position you must have demonstrated sufficient technical knowledge and experience in your role as a Leading Hand, 2 years with the Company or 3 years in the UK industry.

Responsibilities for Linesworker 

Safety

  • Work safely ensuring the safety of Colleagues and Public in all site based activities

  • Maintain knowledge of and implement safety procedures at all times

  • Undertake daily and pre-use inspections of PPE and climbing equipment

  • Confidently carry out tower rescue procedures

  • Report all potential hazards and incidents that have or could have resulted in personal injury or environmental damage.

  • Ensuring that you have and use the correct access, tools, equipment and personal protective equipment for the work.

  • Work at height safely in accordance with legal, Client and Company requirements

  • Attend training as required

  • Be responsible for all general and system safety requirements on site

  • Manage a team of 3 – 6 men

Quality

  • Maintain a very high standard of quality throughout all working practices

  • Work to a high level of housekeeping maintaining a good level of cleanliness across site and within welfare facilities and vehicles.

  • Engage with Supervisors and Client Engineers to build a healthy and mutual working relationship

  • Adhering to Permit to Work and Limited Access Certificates document

  • Operate various items of plant machinery and tools near and around electrical distribution lines

  • Lead by example

  • Take Permits under your Network Authorisation

  • Complete the necessary paperwork as per company and client requirements

  • Attend pre work meetings

    Productivity

  • Be mindful of timescales and productivity to meet Client set targets

  • Work on various OHL systems ranging from 132 – 400Kv, (single, twin, triple and quad bundled conductors)

  • Replace overhead line conductor(re-wire/ tension stringing)

  • Work from platforms, jumper baskets and ladders at height on overhead line steel towers

  • Install jay stops and conductor stockings

  • Install non tension and tension compression joints (ACCC/ACSR)

  • Steel tower erecting and dismantling

  • Steel work replacement

  • Remove and install anti climbing devices

  • Work on puller tensioner sites

  • Tower painting activities

  • Training and supervising other less experienced members of the team

  • Be responsible to oversee all works on your site

  • Any other duties as required
