Our client is looking for experienced Overhead Line Chargehands to join their teams working on the UKPN network

The Chargehand Linesman will be the Chargehand of a 2- or 3-man team changing poles and transformers, reporting to the Project Manager 

The Chargehand will be responsible for leading teams of Linesman to erect poles, change transformers and carry out any other overhead line work that may be required 

Main Responsibilities include: 

  • Carrying out all work in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Freedom and its customers. 

  • Install, build and refurbish overhead lines up to 33kV. 

  • Lead the team to ensure the safe, effective and efficient implementation of Freedom’s operations. 

  • Maintain awareness of and conform to Freedom’s SHE policy and issued safety instructions. 

  • Conform to all instructions stated in method statements and risk assessments. 

  • Liaise with Site Supervisors regarding and specific site issues. 

Required Skills: 

  • Substantial experience in the electricity OHL industry. 

  • Practical experience of Overhead Lines works up to 33kV. 

  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and its practical implications. 

  • Excellent team worker. 

Qualifications and Training: 

  • Any UK DNO authorisations (up to 33kV & Live Line Working, Receive PTW, LV Linking, Polarity Training, Sub-Station Entry) 

  • First Aid 

  • Manual Handling 

  • Working at Height 

  • Winch Operation 

  • IPAF MEWP Operation 

  • NRSWA Operative 

  • Environmental Awareness 

  • Safe Digging Techniques 

Rates/Hours 

  • £23.25p/h 

  • Unreceipted lodge payment of £50 per day unreceipted 

  • 45 hour week
